Meet Montana & Marlena



Montana Burns, M.S.O.M., L.Ac.  |  Acupuncturist & Chinese Herbalist

     Montana graduated with Honors from University of Vermont in 2009 earning a Bachelors of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience with a pre-medical concentration. She then graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. She has studied for thousands of hours with practitioners from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Japanese, Dr. Tan and 5 Element backgrounds. Her specialties include internal medicine, OBGYN, fertility, digestion, pain & sports medicine.

     Montana has an extensive background in both Eastern and Western medicine. She was an independent researcher in college, and is a published author in the field of ADHD and neuroscience. She has experience managing a private women’s health practice in Boulder, Colorado and has also worked as a surgeon’s clinical assistant in the General Surgery department at UVM Medical Center.

     She is skilled in Chinese herbal medicine, Eastern dietary therapy, and acupuncture. Montana is nationally board-certified under the NCCAOM, is certified in Clean Needle Technique from the CCAOM, and is fully licensed in the state of Vermont. Additionally, Montana has fulfilled every requirement in her masters education for the states of California, Washington and Vermont. These states possess the highest educational standards for acupuncturists in the US.

     Montana is expecting her first child in February, and she is planning on taking Maternity leave until May. In her absence, the very talented Marlena will be running the practice.

     Marlena is a licensed acupuncturist in Vermont, Connecticut and New York state. She is board certified through the NCCAOM in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, an awarded diplomat of Oriental Medicine, and an Yi Ren Qi Gong practitioner and a level 1 instructor.

     Having practiced as a massage therapist for 12 years, Marlena decided to deepen her knowledge by attending Bastyr University to complete a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Collectively, Marlena has been in the alternative healing arts for over a decade. Marlena has worked and volunteered in international acupuncture clinics and seminars around the world, providing her with a more global perspective on health and wellness. She has also worked along side Naturopathic doctors and in community acupuncture settings

     Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine resonates with Marlena because of its foundation based on the observation of nature and its holistic approach. Drawing on all her skills and experience, Marlena specializes in pain management, internal medicine, chronic disease, stress reduction, facial rejuvenation, and overall wellbeing. She is very excited to have the opportunity to serve the community.
